EBCC expresses its condolences to the family of Umberto Veronesi. Professor Umberto Veronesi, a breast cancer surgeon and politician, died on 8 November, aged 90. He dedicated his life to cancer and was instrumental in bringing about major improvements in the treatment . Development of a multicellular organism requires tight control of cell proliferation, differentiation and polarized cell movements to ensure the correct assembly of cells into complex tissues. The same molecular mechanisms that normally guide these biological processes in the developing embryo, maintain tissue homeostasis in the adult.
